About Mr. Sidney
I'm currently enrolled in the Licensure Program at Ohio State University (Columbus, OH) to become a licenced art teacher to continue my work with young people and their creative endeavors. As a native of the Columbus, OH area and product of its public and private schools, I managed to obtain my BS in Communication (Audio Production), Minor in Film and MA in Visual Communications from Ohio University (Athens, OH). I have lived and worked in Chicago, Miami and San Francisco and have worked with youth and teens in all locations. The program I've spent the most time with is the Clubhouse Network (aka Computer Clubhouse Network) which began in Boston in collaboration with the MIT Media Lab. While in service with that program, in partnership with non-profits like the Boys & Girls Clubs, I engaged youth and teens in the use of digital media for their individual creative self expression. Also while serving in this program, it allowed me to engage youth and staff at international conferences held in the United States and abroad.
My favorite class while in middle and high school has always been art. While attending Eastmoor Senior High School I was able to major in Art as part of the College Prep program. At one point I almost decided to major in art for college but felt I could explore more options with communications with my interest in audio recording and the use of computer tools to be creative.

While enrolled in the licensure program at Ohio State University, I have observed at Indian Run Elementary (Dublin, OH) and Columbus North International High School. In those classes I’ve introduced how to create a stamp tool in Tinkercad for 3D printing and assisted a special needs student in completing a Japanese style dish made of clay. To date I’ve completed 130+ hours of observation and will have completed 100 hours by the end of spring 2020 semester. In Autumn 2020 I will embark on the 2nd and final year of the program which will include student teaching.
After completing the program at Ohio State University, it is my goal to find a teaching position that focuses on or includes digital art making in a TAB (Teaching for Artistic Behavior) like environment. I believe students should have a voice in their creative expressions and need to be given the latitude to exercise that power under the guidance of supportive teachers, parents and mentors. Recognition and exhibition of artists will be important and in my next role, showcasing student work will be a high priority so that their work can be seen.
